Traditional or too open minded?

In the way back to the office from a nice Thai lunch, one of my colleagues was asking me about how it feels after 3 years of relationship with my boyfriend. At the question, I thought, " he should be asking since it is not that usual to have such a long term relationship in India since the engagement happens in a shorter term..."

After a while I realized he was actually curious because he had an arranged marriage. I got me really interested on the topic and started shooting my questions... I always thought of "arranged marriages" as something "forced" while for this guy, it was actually as a blind date as those sort of US shows (eg. bachelor) where a groups of girls are introduced to a guy and he has to pick one up as a couple. Of course, the indian way is a bit more traditional, a girl (or guy) has a program where he/she shows his/her abilities and skills to make a perfect husband/wife ;)

Once got to know the candidate, you can always say that you are not interested, its not what you are looking for. There are woman, but most commonly man who saw a good number of 6 girls introduced by their parents before choosing the one...

Of course some families are more traditional than others when concerning to arranged marriage but still I found some stories quite open minded
