DUTCH Special times
Starting by Sinterklaas on December 5th. until today, I have already experienced how living the dutch culture really is...
If you don't know what sinterklaas is, let me tell you that besides of the fact that you will be fed with the most delicious dessert (Amandel staal), and non stopping mandarins, you will be required the following things to be able to attend:
- Buy a meaningful gift for your friend (who you got in lottery and are to buy a present to)
- Write one (required) or two (optional) customized poems to place together with your gift. For dutch version you can always go to (
http://dotsphinx.com/sinterklaas/gedichten/). The poem is to mention characteristics of your friend and some tips to describe the gift and the connection between both.
- Your gift gotta be involved in a huge meaningful package. Eg. If your friend is a small child of 9 years old who just won a price in the school spelling contest, you will make a championship cup as a package. Also just putting different random box in others works for the receiver to take at least 5 minutes to open it. It helps to make the night long!

- Open your gifts one by one and get yourself surprised (even if you dont know what the gift is, it must be a candle or something related, dutch people love candles in all shapes, colours, smells and functions jajaj)

Last but not least, just to prevent, buy an extra gift so you can exceed expectations. (Everybody does the same).

Regarding Christmas, so far I have experienced the Christmas Markets in a quite particular way, finding myself 20 meters up in the sky, trying to close my eyes and screaming "Your mom!"next to Frances in a game. It was just hilarious, I have never seen such an angle of Rotterdam before. So far I have been in the sky in a Christmas fair in Belgium, Germany and netherlands, quite typical?

Christmas fraternity parties cannot be missed, specially when a limousine picks you up at the entrance of a very fancy hotel and takes you to a casttle where a nice dinner is to be held. That was a great night, finding three success factors: I was the girlfriend of the president of the fraternity, I was practicing my dutch, and I ended up singing and dancing I will survive with a very enthusiastic audience.

I am heading to a three day christmas celebration in The Netherlands, so i will be able to give a better judgement afterwards. Meantime, I will continue getting addicted to the
GLUWEIN, proost!

Welcome to my site!!!
I have to admit that It took me sometime to finally be able to put in place this small window to the people I love, but finally this Saturday December 3rd, 2005 I dared to click the button and start posting.
To update you a bit about myself, I am currently living in The Netherlands, working for the headquarter office of AIESEC (www.aiesec.org) so far 6 months of working with a great diverse team, working in an area I am passionate about, challenging the boundaries of my work, spending my days with the most special group of indivuals as my best friends, having a "gezellig" time in the country (when the weather doesnt interfere with this feeling), discovering new aspects about myself and the love are just few things to mention about the present.

Dealing between my dutch classes and my internet cooking lessons as part of my personal development plan, I still manage to have time read and relax sometimes in my room-living room thinking about my family, my friends, and the enterpreneur ideas for coming year.

Looking back at my time in school, university and AIESEC, I really have to thank my friends, my parents, and those people who always inspired me and supported me in my small big steps. You are a huge component of myself.

Lets stay in touch!!!

Bievenido a mi sitio!
